The S-Struggle: "The Richest Need to Contribute More"

Researchers at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) have sought to map how income inequality and the associated higher or lower consumption contribute to climate change in a new study. They found that the richest tenth of the world's people are responsible for two-thirds of the global warming recorded since 1990.

Many Social Democrats want to go on a tax offensive against the really rich. But the party board says no to a new wealth tax. "The very richest need to contribute more," says SSU chairwoman Lisa Nåbo.
