The International Equestrian Federation will relax the rule that means that if a horse bleeds, it will be excluded from the competition.
The proposal to change the blood rule in show jumping – where immediate exclusion is proposed to be converted into a warning system – is being met with resistance. On Friday, the proposed rule change will be discussed at the FEI's annual meeting, but it is already clear in advance that Sweden, along with several other countries, will not support it.
So far, fresh blood on the horse in jumping means disqualification. Is the so-called "Blood Rule" now relaxed? On Friday the riding functionaries want to decide.
