As the aircraft plunged roughly 14,000 feet, Machchhar says he summoned enough strength to open the cockpit door. The pilot of the Flydubai plane was stabbed by the co-pilot, but still managed to open the cockpit door so that others could get in, which saved the plane from crashing. “I was lying injured on the floor, but I told myself to give the door one last push,” says Smit Machchhar.
Flydubai's commander recounted how, after being stabbed by his co-pilot, he managed to open the cabin while the plane was losing altitude.
