The Post Office announced on Monday a 7.4% increase in mail and parcel rates on 1 January 2026, with +9.35% for the green letter. This increase is intended to "ensure the sustainability of the universal postal service" while the number of mails decreases, says the group.
The rapid and continuous erosion of paper mail forces La Poste to pass on its costs to a small number of users.
Renewed for a period of ten in its mandate as a universal postal service provider, La Poste is about to increase the price of its green letter, its recommendations and its packages, with an increase of between 3.4% and 9.35%.
In financial difficulty, La Poste announced on Monday 28 July a further increase in the prices of stamps and parcels for the coming year.
La Poste justifies the increase by the continuous decrease in the number of letters that has reduced the group's revenues for years.
