Mel Gibson Believes The Resurrection of the Christ Represents His 'Life’s Work'
Filming wrapped after 134 days in Italy as Lionsgate pushed Part One to May 6, 2027, and Part Two to May 25, 2028.
Lionsgate shifted the release dates for Mel Gibson's two-part epic, The Resurrection, with Part One now set for May 6, 2027, and Part Two for May 25, 2028.
Filming on the two-part epic officially wrapped after 134 days across Italy, with the studio delaying dates because they felt the original schedule was too close given the production's scale.
Accompanying the date changes, the studio released a first-look photo of Jaakko Ohtonen as Jesus Christ, alongside cast members Mariela Garriga, Pier Luigi Pasino, Kasia Smutniak, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Rupert Everett.
Filling the vacated March 26, 2027, slot, the Johnny Depp-starrer Daydrinker will debut instead, according to Lionsgate.
Gibson, who is writing the scripts with Randall Wallace, described the sequel as a "mission" he has carried for over 20 years to continue the story of 2004's The Passion.
