The Seym has approved by law the procedure for the installation of speed control radars

On Thursday, Lithuania ' s Seimas approved amendments to the law establishing the procedure for the installation of speed control radars on roads.

During the adoption, it was refused to establish in the law the maximum length of the average speed measurement section and the number of meters on one road section. The Seimas agreed that a more detailed procedure for the installation and operation of speed meters on roads will have to be established by the Government or an institution authorized by it.

Amendments to the Law on Road Traffic Safety transfer responsibility for the installation of speed cameras from AB Via Lietuva to road owners and introduce new restrictions.

Thousands of radars will appear on our roads, and their numbers could more than double in the years to come.
