Ford Is Making An All-Electric Bronco—But Only for China
CHINA, JUL 16 – The Bronco New Energy offers up to 404 miles of range and features a large 105.4 kWh battery, designed to meet China's demand for larger electric SUVs.
- Earlier today, Ford confirmed to Carscoops that the Bronco New Energy is strictly a China-only release.
- Produced in China by Jiangling Ford, the Bronco New Energy offers pure EV and extended-range EV powertrains, Ford Authority reports.
- According to specifications, the standard EV packs a 105.4 kWh battery for 404 miles on China’s CLTC cycle, while the range-extender’s 43.7 kWh pack enables 137 miles EV or 758 miles combined range.
- However, US fans should note, Ford added a third Bronco model to its SUV lineup, but it won’t reach US showrooms, and US extended-range EVs are at least two years away under different nameplates.
- Adding high-tech capability, Ford says the Bronco New Energy includes an off-road ‘road book’ with 20 curated routes.
