Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Greece are holding talks about a return center in Uganda for rejected asylum seekers. According to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, the negotiations are already well advanced. The center could accommodate up to 10,000 people whose asylum applications have been rejected in one of the participating EU countries. The pilot project would start in 2027 at the earliest.
