Around twelve kilograms of textiles per person end up in the rubbish bin in the EU every year. The EU is now taking action against this with a directive: old clothes are no longer allowed to be thrown in the general waste bin. Germany is initially taking a different approach.
From January 2025, old clothes may no longer be disposed of in the residual waste - this is the EU's requirement. What are the catches and what you can do to be more sustainable.
From January 1, 2025, it is no longer allowed to throw textiles in residual waste. Everything must be recycled. However, you must still deliver usable clothing for reuse.
