The Teplice administration had a monument commemorating the liberation of Czechoslovakia by the Soviet Army in 1945 removed in Havlíčkovy sady, near the city center. The statue of a Red Army soldier, which was the dominant feature of the monument, was destroyed by unknown vandals in May. The place of worship has since fallen into disrepair and, according to the municipality, has become a source of tension rather than a dignified remembrance.
