In an interview with Radio Máxima, Mauricio Davico suggested that "the death penalty for drug traffickers should be considered." The mayor argued that the growing problematic use and social consequences of drug trafficking in Gualeguaychú justified extreme measures to eradicate the problem. This proposal radically deviates from Argentina's constitutional norms and international commitments to human rights.
