Man who killed Minnesota lawmaker and her husband pleads guilty in federal case
Prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty as Boelter prepares to enter a guilty plea in the killings of Melissa Hortman and her husband.
Vance Boelter pleaded guilty in federal court to murdering Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, and shooting state Senator John Hoffman and his wife, as prosecutors decided not to seek the death penalty.
Boelter approached the victims' homes early on June 14, 2025, disguised as a police officer and driving a fake squad car to commit the attacks.
John and Yvette Hoffman and members of the Hortman family attended the court hearing where the events of that night were described.
