The Leduc outdoor pool: A history worth remembering

Summary by Ground News
In the 1970s and 80s, well before Leduc had a splash park, the skateboard park, or even the LRC, one of our city's important recreational facilities was the Alexandra Outdoor Pool. Like other municipal pools, it operated at a deficit and needed to be heavily subsidized by property taxes. In the early 1990s, when the City of Leduc's finances were very tight, council made the difficult decision to permanently close and remove the pool. A small group of community-minded residents got together and approached the city with the idea that they would take over the operation of the pool and the city could meet its budget.
