Today, Lithuania started its largest annual national mobilization exercise "Vyčio skliautas 2026" ("Vitis Shield 2026"), the aim of which is to check how the country would react to the deterioration of the security situation and the transition to the mobilization mode in war conditions, local media reports.
Lithuania will practice the evacuation of residents of the capital and the border region in the event of an invasion from neighboring Belarus. The transfer of people to neighboring Poland is also being practiced. The evacuation is part of a week of exercises for a society in wartime, reports the Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT.
