October 5-10 marks the 90th anniversary of the Jarrow March or Jarrow Crusade when 200 unemployed workers from Jarrow in South Tyneside in the North-East of England marched 300 miles from their home town to London to protest against unemployment and poverty brought on by the closure of local industry. In doing so they marched through more affluent areas, such as Harrogate, Loughborough, and Bedford.
