Finland moves to tighten citizenship rules and expand revocation grounds
Finland is set to introduce stricter conditions for acquiring and retaining citizenship following a government proposal submitted to Parliament on Thursday. The proposed amendments would raise the bar for applicants by tightening requirements related to identity verification, financial self-sufficiency, and criminal history. The new legislation is expected to come into force on 1 October 2025.
