In early 2029, a Belgian lunar rover will depart for the moon for the first time. The robotic vehicle was built by aerospace company Space Applications Services from Zaventem. It will be allowed to fly aboard the new rocket of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

The LUVMI-M will be the first fully operational commercial mission of a lunar rover carried out by a European company. The rover was entirely designed and built in Zaventem and will also be piloted from Belgium. The LUVMI-M will be looking for volatile substances such as water ice and helium-3, mapping the geological properties of the lunar soil (regolith) and measuring seismic activity.
