- McIlroy is the bookmakers' favourite after completing a career grand slam with a Masters win and contributing three-and-a-half points for Team Europe at the Ryder Cup this year.
- Seven awards will be handed out tonight, including World Sport Star of the Year, Team of the Year, Young Sports Personality of the Year, Coach of the Year and the Helen Rollason Award, with all winners soon revealed on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
