E-commerce: (dpa) traders from third countries are to be persuaded to set up warehouses within the EU to process customer deliveries. The customs exemption for goods worth less than 150 euros is to be abolished.
The plenary session of the European Parliament was in favour of the Brussels idea of imposing a EUR 2 tariff on purchases made on low-cost online platforms, such as Chinese Shein and Temu, provided that the payment of this new tax on small value purchases made from non-EU suppliers is not taken over by the final consumer and is made in accordance with the rules of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
