Italy, Catania, 23 April 2025 – On the evening of 22 April, Europe's tallest volcano, Etna, once again began to explod, with intense activity in the south-east crater area of Dzafferan Etnea. A column of gas and ashes rose several kilometres above the top of the volcano, and volcanic ash spread eastward.

On Tuesday night, bright flashes reappeared over Sicily -- the Etna volcano began spewing lava again.
