After two months of shutdown, the EPR of Flamanville, in the English Channel, restarted on the evening of Saturday 19 April. The available power is 90 MW against 1,620 MW of maximum power. "Tests with variation of power" are also planned until Wednesday, EDF announced.
The nuclear reactor, which has been shut down since 15 February, was reconnected Saturday night according to EDF.
The powerful plant had been shut down last February, in particular to "take an intervention on a cooling circuit of the equipment by sea water".
While the restart of the EPR had already been postponed several times, it finally took place two days before the last scheduled date. EDF plans to maintain its forecast schedule, to reach "summer 2025" full power.
