Ukraine’s Drone Blitz Cracks Russia’s S-400 System Shield
- On June 26, 2025, the Ukrainian intelligence service known as GUR carried out a drone attack targeting key S-400 air defense radars and a missile launcher located in Crimea, which is currently under Russian control.
- This strike was part of Ukraine’s continued efforts to weaken the Russian military facilities that support Moscow’s unlawful 2014 annexation and occupation of Crimea.
- The GUR’s specialized “Ghosts” unit destroyed two 92N2E multi-functional radars, two 91N6E long-range radars, and one S-400 missile launcher, vital to Russia’s air defense network.
- "These radars are the eyes of the enemy's air defense system," said the GUR, stressing that the operation furthers efforts to create strategic vulnerabilities in Russian control over the skies.
- The strike severely impairs Russia’s S-400 system in Crimea, disrupts airspace coverage, and signals a growing Ukrainian capability to challenge advanced air defenses with asymmetric tactics.
