The Developers of Dawn of War IV Hope It Will Be Become an Entry Point to Warhammer 40,000, Just Like the First Game Over 20 Years Ago

King Art Games says the classic real-time strategy sequel will serve as an entry point for new players and add free updates plus paid campaign expansions.

  • Deep Silver and King Art Games revealed Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 launches on September 17, with Commander Edition pre-orders granting a 10% discount and three-day early access beginning September 14.
  • Year One content roadmap spans nine months of post-launch updates, anchored by two paid expansions: the Blood Ravens Story Prologue and the Aftermath Campaign, addressing player demand for deeper Blood Ravens storytelling.
  • Following the launch, free updates introduce the Mission Editor for custom battles and new Last Stand mode Commanders with unique abilities, while the fan-favorite Crusade Mode returns in the fall with bespoke objectives and gameplay twists.
  • The Aftermath Campaign adds a fifth playable faction across all modes and "explores the consequences of your victories and the threats set to reshape the battlefield," the studio said, significantly expanding Crusade mode gameplay.
  • Creative Director Jan Theysen and Senior Game Designer Elliott Verbiest designed the game as an accessible entry point for new fans unfamiliar with Warhammer 40K lore, centering the prologue on the Blood Ravens chapter.
