The Corvette E-Ray is dead, long live the Grand Sport X
- On Thursday, March 26, 2026, Chevrolet officially unveiled the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport and hybrid AWD Grand Sport X. Both models debut a new 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 engine, replacing the outgoing Corvette E-Ray in the lineup.
- The standard LS6 engine produces 535 horsepower and 520 pound-feet of torque, while the hybrid Grand Sport X variant boosts total output to 721 horsepower by pairing the V-8 with electrification technology borrowed from the ZR1X.
- Adopting the wider bodywork of the Corvette Z06, both variants feature signature twin hash marks now relocated to the rear fenders. Optional Sport and Track Performance packages offer carbon-fiber aerodynamic upgrades and enhanced suspension tuning.
- Production begins this summer at Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky, with sales expected in the second half of 2026. Analysts anticipate the base Grand Sport model will start at around $95,000.
- Reviving a nameplate dating to 1963, the Grand Sport occupies a market niche between the Stingray and Z06. Chevrolet projects combined Grand Sport and Stingray sales will reach up to 70% of Corvette volume.
