The City of Tampere is investigating a stomach flu epidemic in Pyynikki: at least more than 20 people have fallen ill

Water samples have been taken from domestic water, but domestic water is not currently suspected to be the cause and no deviations in water quality have been observed.

Water samples from Pyynikki in Tampere do not indicate the pathogen. Tampere Environmental Health Services has received a total of approximately 300 reports of illness related to the Pyynikki epidemic. Several cases of stomach illness have been detected in the Pyynikki area of Tampere. According to a city press release, the cause is likely a virus-caused epidemic.

The cause of the infections is not yet known.

There is no information yet about the source of the infection. The CEO of Tampereen Vedi says that the water supply in the area has been operating normally, and there are no maintenance or repair works underway in the area.
