Over 10,000 protest Gaza war and hunger crisis in major Arab Israeli city
Speakers at the protest included Sakhnin Mayor Mazem Ghanaim, who called to end the Gaza war during his speech, saying, 'I want a new Middle East.' According to another protester, 'You don't need to be a politician to understand the injustice here is boundless'
The "Peace Partnership" initiative organized a demonstration to stop the war in Gaza, attended by prominent Knesset members from the Arab parties. "The demonstration is a step in the right direction," the initiative said, announcing that they will continue the struggle until the war ends.
The protest began with a march from the square of the An-Nur Mosque in the city and will end at the city hall square, where Sakhnin Mayor Mazen Ganaim and the chairman of the Arab Society Monitoring Committee, Muhammad Baraka, spoke. "How can we continue to live our daily lives when we know that they are dying of hunger and we are silent?" one of the protesters told Haaretz.
