Scientists looking for alternatives to petrol and diesel have successfully created oil from bamboo. Researchers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, USA, converted bamboo into an oil-like substance using a special process. In the lab, the bamboo was heated at 300 degrees Celsius for just 10 minutes.
