Sixteen people died in the explosion at an explosives plant where 24,000 to 28,000 pounds of explosives detonated, with investigations expected to take months, officials said.
- On Oct. 10, a blast at the Accurate Energetic Systems factory in Bucksnort, Tennessee, killed 16 people and leveled the building about 60 miles southwest of Nashville.
- Investigators say the blast began on the plant's 15,000-square-foot first floor near kettles used in production, and after an initial explosion, main floor explosive storage also detonated.
- From 24,000 to 28,000 pounds of explosives detonated, and Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis said items of interest were found more than a half-mile away during about 500 acres searched.
- Brice McCracken, the special agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at the National Center for Explosives Training and Research, said the scene was turned back over to the company last week, and determining a cause could take many months.
- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has identified 14 victims via rapid DNA testing, and Jamey VanVliet said investigators will run tests at ATF labs, warning `Those results don't come quickly`.
