A UK study of 2,000 adults found 32% try DIY skincare hacks, with 18% reporting negative reactions and many motivated by natural ingredients or cost savings.
- A OnePoll study of 2,000 adults revealed one in three have experimented with DIY skincare regimes, often turning to household ingredients like avocado and strawberries for their beauty routines.
- Mainly, people use DIY hacks to save money or avoid harsh chemicals , though 56 per cent of those polled have experienced skin conditions like acne or eczema.
- While 18 per cent of those who tried DIY regimes experienced negative reactions, others use lemon juice to brighten skin, indulge in oatmeal baths, or apply yoghurt as a facemask to improve appearance.
- Yet 52 per cent do not consider laundry detergent part of a skincare routine, despite spending 16 hours daily in contact with fabrics, overlooking how detergent traces remain on clothing touching skin.
