Report: Orbán government sent EUR 705,000 overseas in 10 months, funding New York office, cemetery restoration
The Orbán government’s Bethlen Gábor Fund (BGA) distributed HUF 255.9 million (approximately EUR 705,000) in discretionary grants to Hungarian diaspora organisations outside Europe between July 2025 and the end of April 2026, according to documents obtained through a freedom of information request.Continue reading
The Bethlen Gábor Fund also supported organizations operating in America, Canada and Japan.
The Orbán government also allocated a total of 255.9 million forints to the Bethlen Gábor Fund through 19 individual decisions.
The Hungarian Scout Association Abroad alone received 119 million forints. The post 444: Hundreds of millions of forints of Hungarian public money went overseas from Uruguay to Canada under Orbán first appeared on 24.hu.
Over the past year, Hungarian taxpayers' money has been used to fund projects in Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Canada, and the United States, based on the diverse needs of Hungarian organizations there.
