AKP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir announced that three CHP council members in Bahçelievler Municipality resigned from their party and joined the AKP.
The balance of power has shifted in the AKP-controlled Bahçelievler Municipality Council. With CHP council members Levent Arısüt, Barış Ural, and Cem Şafak joining the AKP, the number of seats held by the Cumhur Alliance has risen to 23, while the CHP remains at 22. This development comes after the arrest of CHP mayor Sinem Dedetaş.
The political balance in the Bahçelievler Municipal Council shifted with the defection of three council members from the CHP to the AK Party. With the addition of Cem Şafak, Barış Ural, and Levent Arısüt, the CHP's number of members decreased to 22, while the number of members of the Cumhur Alliance increased to 23. Thus, the majority of members in the Bahçelievler Municipal Council now belongs to the Cumhur Alliance.
