Luleå is Swedish champion – first gold in 29 years

LULEÅ. The jubilation knew no bounds when the home team succeeded in what Luleå fans had dreamed of for 29 years. SM gold after 5-2 in the sixth SHL final match against Brynäs. – It will be a party all summer, says Linus Omark, after raising the SM trophy in front of a roaring home crowd.

The first time the club had to wait 19 years. The second time it took 29. Now Luleå has won the Swedish Championship gold medal in ice hockey again.

Helmets, sticks and gloves flew through the air – the supporters cheered so much that the roof and walls of the home stadium were about to give way. After 29 long years, Luleå can celebrate SM gold again. Brynäs was defeated in the sixth SM final with 5–2.
