The 22nd Century Cinema Project Launches as Global Think Tank to Innovate Theatrical Exhibition
The cooperative will help theater owners and developers improve design efficiency, multi-use space planning, and audience engagement, founders said.
On June 7, 2026, the 22nd Century Cinema Project launched in TORONTO, CANADA, and ROME, ITALY, establishing a global cooperative think tank dedicated to advancing cinema space innovation and theatrical exhibition sustainability.
Evolving from five years of strategic dialogue, Scottish Italian architect Domenico Del Priore and veteran analyst Bill Dever founded the Project as a comprehensive incubator environment designed to expand theatrical cinema's depth and commercial reach.
Del Priore said cinema is a 'cultural anchor' demanding reinvention, while Dever noted that 'Moviegoers deserve spaces that match the magic of the medium itself' to build a thriving cultural institution.
Currently collaborating with cinema developers across multiple continents, the Project provides structural support and innovative frameworks for theatrical venues seeking to differentiate themselves in an increasingly competitive entertainment landscape.
The Project invites theater owners and stakeholders to participate as it expands incubator programs and development partnerships throughout 2026 and beyond, aiming to secure theatrical exhibition's sustainable future.
