In 2026, 19 new emojis arrive for (almost) everyone, and there are surprises in the lot.
Every autumn, the Unicode Consortium adopts a list of emojis that can support manufacturers of smartphones and computers. The official status of an emojis ensures that the image is taken over universally after some time and displayed on each website as well as in every chat, regardless of the program and the terminal device. The consortium adopted the new Unicode 18 standard in the autumn, which also includes new emojis.
The Unicode consortium, which decides on the new emojis to be added on Android, iOS, and other platforms, has just updated its proposed list for Emoji 18.0. The list is expected to be finalized in September 2026.
