Personal Info of 3 Million Texas Hunters, Anglers Possibly Exposed in Data Breach
Texas Parks & Wildlife is offering one free year of credit monitoring after hackers accessed driver’s license and passport data for more than 3 million people.
On Thursday, The TPWD reported a cybersecurity breach involving a vendor that may have exposed driver's license information and passport numbers for more than 3 million people.
Texas Cyber Command detected the incident, which also compromised email addresses, phone numbers, and residential addresses, while officials confirmed Social Security numbers and financial information were not accessed.
Affected individuals are eligible for one year of free credit monitoring through Kroll, and The TPWD advised customers to contact Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion to freeze their credit.
A dedicated call center at 844-959-7123 is available Monday through Friday to answer questions, as The TPWD implemented additional security options to prevent future incidents.
The deadline to apply for free monitoring is Sept. 14, and investigators noted there was no evidence that customers under 18 were affected; anyone noticing unauthorized activity should contact their financial institution.
