Texans' C.J. Stroud to miss second game due to concussion; Davis Mills to start
Backup QB Davis Mills will start again for the Texans as C.J. Stroud remains in concussion protocol after a Week 9 injury, Houston holds a 4-5 record, coach confirmed.
- On Thursday, Texans coach DeMeco Ryans announced C.J. Stroud will miss a second straight game with a concussion, and Davis Mills will start Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in Nashville, Tennessee.
- In Week 9, Stroud sustained the hit that led to his concussion when Broncos cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine lunged into his chest and caused his head to hit the ground on Nov. 2, and he remains in concussion protocol with recovery day-to-day, Coach Ryans said.
- Coming off a 36-29 win last week, Mills completed 27 of 45 passes for 292 yards and two TDs, earning another start.
- The absences leave Houston Texans fighting to get back to.500 as the 4–5 team will also be without safety Jalen Pitre for Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kick in Nashville.
- This marks a repeat concussion absence in Stroud's young career and his next chance to play is Week 12 against the Buffalo Bills, but lack of practice may delay his return.
