Buenos Aires, 9 May (NA) -- Tetanus is a serious disease of the nervous system caused by a bacterium that silently inhabits the earth, dust or organic matter and can enter the body through any injury, even smaller ones. Once inside, it releases a toxin that directly attacks the nervous system, causing extreme stiffness, difficulty swallowing and intense muscle spasms, which can compromise breathing.
