Michael McKee faces two counts of aggravated murder and extradition after his arrest in Illinois linked to the fatal shootings of his ex-wife and her husband.
- On Dec. 30, authorities found Monique Tepe, 39, and Spencer Tepe, 37, dead at their Columbus home after a friend called 911; Michael McKee, 39, was arrested 400 miles away and is held in Illinois.
- Records show Michael McKee and Monique Tepe married in 2015 and divorced two years later after living apart, and family members alleged McKee was emotionally abusive; Bryant said, `This was a domestic violence-related attack.`
- Surveillance video showed McKee's vehicle near the Tepes' home just before the killings, and investigators recovered a weapon linked to the deaths plus multiple firearms, including the suspected murder weapon, at McKee's Rockford, Illinois property.
- Mayor Andrew Ginther appealed for support and confirmed extradition plans, saying `We have two little children who have lost their parents, a family that will never be the same`; McKee appeared in an Illinois courtroom Monday and plans to plead not guilty.
- Bryant cautioned that investigators are limiting details, saying `This being such an ongoing and very fluid investigation, it's really important for us to make sure that we share the things that aren't going to compromise the case`, while police noted no prior reports involving the ex-husband and the Tepes' children were heard crying on the 911 call.
