Chilean army and police forces rescued stranded residents over the weekend as a severe storm system battered the country's central-north regions. Heavy rains, floodings and winds from a storm system have swept Chile this week with the government declaring a preventive emergency in ten regions.
At least ten people have now been confirmed dead and more than 2,000 have had their homes severely damaged by a storm that has brought heavy rains, high seas and strong winds to Chile since July 15, the government of the Latin American country announced.
