Temperatures Set to Soar in Liverpool over Bank Holiday Weekend
Temperatures could top 30C and trigger heat health alerts across much of the UK, with some areas hotter than Greek holiday spots, officials said.
The Met Office forecasts an 'exceptional spell of warmth' this weekend, with temperatures expected to reach 30C by Bank Holiday Monday, potentially marking the year's warmest day.
High pressure will dominate the UK's weather over the bank holiday weekend, bringing fine and settled conditions that Deputy Chief Forecaster Greg Wolverson said will likely trigger heatwave thresholds from Sunday.
The UK Health Security Agency issued yellow heat health alerts, warning of 'minor impacts' across services. RAC spokesman Harriet Hernando advised motorists to ensure vehicles are 'summer-ready' before traveling.
Temperatures will climb above 25C across much of Wales and southern England, while parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland anticipate mid-20s as conditions develop across regions.
This warmth could mark the highest May temperature recorded in the UK since 2012, while scientists monitor a potential 'super El Niño' pattern from The Pacific that may intensify global temperatures.
