Teen 'extremely critical' after Hartford shooting was not intended target, police say
Camden Siegal, a 17-year-old senior, was struck by stray gunfire in a downtown Hartford shooting; no suspects identified as police continue their homicide investigation.
Hall High School senior Camden Siegel, 17, died on February 24, 2026 from injuries sustained in a shooting early Sunday on Ann Uccello Street, Hartford, and was pronounced dead after arriving in critical condition.
Sunday, family members say Camden Siegel was getting into an Uber when he was struck and was not the intended target, according to West Hartford Superintendent Paul Vicinus.
Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division and Crime Scene Division are investigating the shooting, and a man in his 20s arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle in critical but stable condition.
Although students did not have classes Tuesday, West Hartford Public Schools closed and offered grief counselors, with Hall High open 3 to 5 p.m. for support.
Family members say they are planning a funeral, and Superintendent Vicinus said 'In moments like this, the strength of a community is measured not only by its response, but by its care for one another', highlighting the community's impact.
