Former Ohio State Wide Receiver Ted Ginn Jr. Named Head Coach of Columbus Aviators
Ted Ginn Jr. aims to help undrafted Ohio State players reach the NFL while establishing a new football tradition in Columbus, officials said.
On December 17, 2025, former Ohio State All-American Ted Ginn Jr. was named the Columbus Aviators' inaugural head coach as the team prepares to begin play in March of 2026 at Historic Crew Stadium.
Ginn said he took the job to help undrafted Ohio State players reach the NFL and build a new winning tradition in Columbus, Ohio, asking fans statewide to support the Aviators.
A former Buckeye from 2004-06, Ginn totaled 1,943 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns, then had a 14-year NFL career spanning six teams with 5,742 yards and 33 touchdowns.
Team executives said, 'Teddy will be a great influence on the young men and he will represent the Buckeye State and the UFL with class,' said Tressel, highlighting local support for the franchise in Columbus, Ohio.
With deep local roots, Ginn's Ohio ties run deep as his father, Ted Ginn Sr., Glenville High School coach, has multiple state titles, and Ginn urged Central Ohio community and fans to get involved.
