Hundreds of thousands march across France in protests over schools and policing
Police said nearly 2,400 people were arrested and almost 100 security forces were injured as protests over living costs spread across Europe.
Hundreds of thousands protested across France and other European countries over schools, living costs, housing, wages, public services and government policies.
France’s Interior Ministry estimated that 410,000 people joined demonstrations nationwide, while authorities deployed up to 70,000 officers.
Most demonstrations were peaceful during the day, but clashes, vandalism and looting later led police to use tear gas, water cannons and make arrests in several cities.
Barcelona reported about 100 arrests after shops were looted and fires were set.
