Former DuPage County Corrections Deputy Found Guilty
CARTER COUNTY, TENNESSEE, JUL 9 – Matthew J. Gray faces two counts of sexual contact with inmates after a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation probe that began in December 2024, officials said.
- On July 9, 2025, a former Carter County corrections officer, Matthew Gray, was indicted for sexual contact with inmates in Tennessee.
- The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation began examining allegations against 27-year-old Gray in December 2024 after reports of multiple sexual contacts surfaced.
- Gray surrendered to authorities, was processed at the Carter County Jail with bail set at $10,000, and was dismissed from his position at the sheriff's office following the allegations.
- Separately, DuPage County ex-deputy Ricardo Hardy was convicted last month of five counts each of custodial sexual misconduct and official misconduct related to acts from March to April 2023.
- Hardy was taken into custody on May 15, 2025, posted a $30,000 bond, and is required to appear in court on August 14 for proceedings related to post-trial motions and the submission of the pre-sentence report.
