Diesel on ‘Crash Course’ to £1.70 as Pump Prices Soar Across the UK

- Filling up a family car now costs over £11 more per tank compared with late February, as petrol has risen by 10p a litre and diesel by 20p, RAC head of policy Simon Williams said.
- The RAC warned it is 'really starting to hurt drivers', while Michael Shanks, Energy Minister, said on Tuesday the Government 'stands ready to provide whatever support is needed to consumers'.
- Diesel is on course to hit £1.70 on average, with pump prices already above £1.60, while analysts warn petrol should not exceed 148p per litre if oil stays around 100 dollars a barrel.
