Not rape, but sexual harassment in a taxi

The Icelandic Supreme Court has sentenced a foreign taxi driver to twelve months in prison for sexually harassing a seventeen-year-old girl in his taxi in the fall of 2022. He had previously received a two-year sentence for the offense in the district court, but the court then ruled that it was rape.

The National Court has commuted the sentence of a taxi driver who had been sentenced to two years in prison in the District Court earlier this year for raping a 17-year-old girl in 2022, after the man repeatedly assaulted her on the way from Hafnarfjörður to Reykjanesbær.
