Hungary and Slovakia intend to jointly challenge in the European Court of Justice a plan by the European Union to refuse imports of Russian oil and gas.
Hungary and Slovakia will challenge the decision to ban Russian oil and gas supplies, which the European Commission intends to put to a vote next week, before the Court of Justice of the European Union, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced today.
By filing a lawsuit with the European Court of Justice, Budapest and Bratislava want to have Brussels' planned ban on Russian gas and oil imports overturned. The two countries also want to jointly request the suspension of the plan, known as REPowerEU, during the legal proceedings.
