In a statement released on the anniversary of the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "We wholeheartedly congratulate the Syrian people on Freedom Day. Despite the numerous problems it faces over the past year, the Syrian Government has pursued a sensible and peaceful foreign policy and taken lasting steps toward Syria achieving the respected position it deserves in the international arena."
