Swiss lower house of parliament rejects Mercosur trade deal
Summary
Switzerland's lower house of parliament has rejected an agreement with the South American trade bloc Mercosur amid opposition from both the right and left of the political spectrum. The deal now moves to the upper chamber of parliament and could return to the lower house if approved there.
The Mercosur Free Trade Agreement has for the time being failed in the National Council. Parliament does not seem to know where prosperity comes from in Switzerland.
The Swiss lower house voted against the agreement with Mercosur amid reactions from both sides of the political spectrum.

According to the Council of States, the National Council has also approved the trade agreement concluded last year between the Efta countries and Malaysia.
