Swimmer’s itch detected in Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Summer hasn’t even officially begun, and already swimmer’s itch is showing up in Detroit Lakes. The rash is caused by parasites that can burrow into skin leading to itching and burning. Recommendations for avoiding swimmer’s itch include staying out of shallow water, showering immediately after getting out of the water and using a towel to dry off.
